Flower Bouquet

Sports theme

If you ask me, I grew up with 2 big brothers and cousins who constantly watched, talked about, and played sports.  I wouldn't say I was always into sports (although I did play volleyball and basketball) but in the past 5 years or so, I've been drawn more and more to it.  So I was excited that my hairstylist at Sol Salon ordered sports themed cake pops for a baby shower they were throwing for one of their co-workers who's having a baby boy! They love sports too... hence the soccer balls, basketball, and baseballs. The soccer balls took forever but thankfully Lala helped me with the basketball and baseball design. Whew.  Here they are. The baseballs are my fave.

Stay tuned because I'm making football themed cake pops next week for an all girl 'two-hand touch' fantasy football league I'm in. Yup, us girls are real serious! hahaha
Congrats Oscar & Adriana!

Caterpillars, bees, & ladybugs

My girl Lex wanted me to make 70 cake pops for her bugs/new life/growth themed baby shower for her soon-to-be Baby boy Emory.  Here they are! The caterpillar is my favorite!

Miss Ladybug

Mr. Caterpillar

All bugs unite

PS) I'll be out of town for 3 weeks so I'll be sorta MIA. Maybe you'll see a post here and there. June was busy month! Not only was it my birth month but I had 1-2 orders every week. Now it's time for others to bake for me. =P

I have 3 orders lined up already when I come back from vacation so stay tuned. Happy Summer Solstice everyone. Go out and get sunkissed!

Samoas Cake pops

For Hanna's graduation luau themed party, her mother Sa ordered 10 Samoas and 10 flower cake pops.  The Samoa cake pops turned out better than I how I initially made it when I was experimenting with the idea.  I made exactly 10 and didn't have any leftover for myself.  I usually don't crave any of my cake pops, but the smell of coconut with caramel teases my palette!
Congrats Hanna!

Happy Father's Day!

"Happy Father's Day to all the pops (biological & step) that handle their biz, uncles, aunties, moms, brothers, sisters, big homies, teachers and all those folks that fulfill that fatherly role for our youngsters."-Fred David
Men appreciate flowers, too ;)

Western themed cake pops

Happy Birthday Alton!
Holly ordered Western themed cake pops for her son's 5th birthday.  I've never made any of these designs before but they came out just as I pictured it.  One thing I'll do different next time is actually make a cow's face instead of a cow ball. hahaha...it's a cow print cake pop guys...sheesh!

8 Rays

A coworker of mine wanted me to make 'something Filipino' for his ed. Leadership class as a reward for their 2 years of coursework.  I wanted to design something different than the Filipino flag cake pop I've made before so I came up with this simple design with one powerful icon--the Filipino sun.  The blue represents peace, truth, and justice.  The red--valour and patriotism.  The 8 rays represent the first 8 provinces that sought to gain independence from Spain. If you dont know, now you know.. :)

Ahhhhhh...makes me reminisce back to my Bachelor and Masters graduation.  Nothing but bliss filled the air.  Moments like this allow us to put life on pause for a sec. and stand proudly, look out to the crowd and shout, "I did it!"  To all the graduates of 2011, congratulations. I grant thee braggin' rights.

Congrats Mikaela!
Congrats Shanise!

Filipino flag cake pops

I'm making Filipino flag cake pops for the Carson Filipino Community Dialogue going on this Saturday. Some of my coworkers, former students ,and classmates from UCLA are attending but unfortunately, I'll be out of town...jet setting. :) My sweet replacement would look something like this:

The design shouldn't be too hard as the technique is similar to the groom pops I made. Stay tuned....more pics to come!

Just in case you're in the area..
Time
Saturday, April 16 · 11:00am - 1:00pm
Location
Scott Park
23410 Catskill Avenue
Carson, CA

...and here they are! Do you see what's missing? If you're Filipino, you should know this one.
A second pic to come...
So if you didn't catch it, the stars were missing. I tried piping yellow candy melts to make stars, but it didn't turn out nice. Thank goodness Ralph's had star sprinkles.

Girl scout 'samoas' cake pops!

Girl scout cookies are one of my guilty pleasures. Thin mints and samoas to be exact. The idea of making girl scout cake pops seemed like a fun tasty project I wanted to try out. I mean, why not have the convenience of your guilty pleasure at home? ;) I looked online to see if anyone has made them before and surprisingly, no one has (that's the first)...then I thought well...trial and error makes perfection, so let's see how this goes.

TA-DAH!

Glad this project went as planned. According to my taste testers, they were BOMB. Watch out girl scouts! hahaha

Spring is here

When I was a kid, easter was all about family get togethers, eating delicious food, getting huge easter egg baskets and going easter egg hunting. I especially enjoyed hunting for the eggs with money in it. Those were the good ol days...

The family get togethers and food are still a must but easter egg hunting is for the little kids. Now we just have to supervise...this means I'm getting old! haha. I'm doing something different this year as my cousin mentioned she wanted to learn how to make cake pops for easter. I thought it was fitting to make these. Hands down to the baby chicks. How cute are they!

Happy birthday!

Tomorrow is my friend Grace's birthday and since I had some strawberry cake and candy melts leftover, I made her cupcake pops! To add some more oomph to it, I bought a colorful pail (isn't it cute?) and personalized it with a 'G.'

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACE!

Marry me cake pops

Wedding bells are ringing! I am so happy for my brother and Shar. *tear. Their day: March 19,2011. =)I'm planning to make these bride and groom pops for the wedding and am so excited to do so. I'm making strawberry cake for the bride pops, and red velvet for the groom.

Maricris will be making the cake pop tags and these cute personalized water bottles.
As soon as we put everything together, I'll post more pics. Until then, wish me luck!

Before and after pics:

Now the question is...who do I need to make these for next? ;)

Cupcake Pops a.k.a "crack on a stick"...

My gift to Lala for her BIG 2-6...26 cupcake pops. The bakerella book wasnt lying when they said its better to bake the cake a COUPLE days before. I was busy as a bee to start it early so I made these ONE day before we headed to Mammoth for her birthday extravaganza. Luckily I didnt have work the next day because it took me 5 hours to finish. Yes, 5. These petite goodies are a lot of maintenance because you have to wait till the cake COMPLETELY cools and for the candy melts to COMPLETELY dry. Nonetheless, I had fun making the cake pops because it was my first time trying it out, and in the end, they were just as cute and delicious as I imagined them to be.

INGREDIENTS
9-by-13-inch Chocolate Cake for Cupcake Pops
2 cups Cream Cheese Buttercream Frosting
1 package chocolate coating bark
1 package white coating bark or pink candy melts
Sprinkles, for garnish
Candy-coated chocolates, such as M&M's, for garnish
Directions

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. Trim about 1/2 inch from the perimeter of the cake. Working in batches, crumble cake into the bowl of a food processor; process until fine crumbs form. Transfer to a large bowl and add frosting; blend together using the back of a spoon, until well combined, 5 to 10 minutes.
Roll mixture into 1 1/4- to 1 1/2-inch balls; transfer to prepared baking sheet. Cover with parchment-paper-lined aluminum foil. Transfer to refrigerator until chilled, about 2 hours or to a freezer for about 10 minutes.
Begin to shape balls into cupcakes by rolling balls first into logs. Fit logs into a 1 1/4-by-3/4-inch flower-shaped cookie cutter. Push cake mixture into the cutter halfway so that some of the cake mixture extends beyond the top of the cutter. Shape extended cake mixture into a cupcake-shaped top. Push cake from cutter to remove. Transfer to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Transfer to freezer until chilled, 5 to 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt chocolate in heatproof bowl set over (but not touching) simmering water. Line another baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. Remove cupcakes from freezer and dip the bottom of each cupcake into the chocolate; transfer, bottom-side up, to prepared baking sheet. To make lollipops, insert a lollipop stick into the bottom of each cupcake. Let chocolate set, 15 to 20 minutes.
Melt white chocolate or pink candy melts in heatproof bowl set over (but not touching) simmering water. Dip the tops of the cupcakes into the chocolate and place right-side up on prepared baking sheet or stick lollipop sticks into a Styrofoam square. Place a candy-coated chocolate in the center of each and top with sprinkles. Let dry completely.
